The starting point was the Commemoration of the Founder, on March 14th, the birth date of Father Leo John Dehon in 1843. His legacy remains alive, inspiring the mission and charism of the Congregation, centered on reparation and love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This celebration brought to mind the core commitment of the Dehonians to serve the Church and society.

Diaconal ordination of five SCJs

Shortly thereafter, on March 16th, the Diaconal Ordinations took place, where five brothers Daio Alberto Marques scj, Florêncio Duarte Vicente scj, Lourenço Domingos Murabela scj,  Nélio Lucas Rapoio scj,  e  Tiago Mendes Vasco scj, took a significant step in their vocational journey by being ordained deacons. This moment was particularly special for Brother Florêncio, who made his perpetual vows the day before, reaffirming his dedication to the Dehonian charism and mission. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Bishop Dom Inácio Lucas, from the Diocese of Gurué, as well as invited Dehonian priests, diocesan clergy, and family members, marking a moment of unity and celebration. In the same spirit of growth and renewal, the Scholasticate in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, witnessed significant milestones. Two brothers, Remígio and Florentino, renewed their vows, while Hélio and Florêncio were instituted into the ministry of lectorate. These moments highlighted the continuous spiritual and formative progress of the brothers, symbolizing their advancement in religious life and their commitment to the Congregation’s mission.

Finally, all these events contributed to the Unity of the Dehonian in Mozambique, strengthening the bonds among the members of the province, benefactors, and the broader community. The shared prayers and celebrations stood as a testament to the strength of the Dehonian charism in bringing people together and driving the mission of sharing Christ’s love with others. These occurrences were not merely celebrations but also a renewed call to mission, community life, and service, consolidating the spirit of faith and communion among the Dehonians in Mozambique. March was, without a doubt, a memorable and blessed month for the Congregation.
