The Dehonian International Theological Commission (CTID) in Rome: Statutes, Research, and Perspectives
Meeting in Rome last month for its annual session, the CTID marked an important milestone in the coordination of the Congregation’s theological reflection.
The annual meeting of the Dehonian International Theological Commission (CTID), held in Rome from December 11 to 13, brought together the coordinators of the Continental Dehonian Theological Commissions (CTDC), the coordinator of the Dehonian Study Center (CSD), and Fr. Charles Aimé Koudjou, SCJ, representing the General Administration. During the meeting, the commission focused its discussions on two main themes:

The Revision of the Commission’s Statutes
This work is based on recent guidelines established by the General Government for the various commissions of the Congregation. It provided an opportunity to examine how the CTID can better participate in the mission of the Congregation as an integral part of it, and to define ways to improve coordination between the CTID and the continental commissions, as well as collaboration among the continental commissions themselves.
Preparation for the 2026 Theological Seminar
The next theological seminar will be held from July 30 to August 4, 2026, in Taubaté, Brazil. Under the theme “Fr. Dehon in His Texts,” this seminar aims to discover the figure of Father Dehon as an author through his writings. Given the diversity of genres in his writings (spiritual, social, diaries, letters), each continental theological commission is currently working on texts of a specific genre as their primary research focus. Discussions also addressed ways to make this seminar more accessible to the entire Congregation.
Events
In addition to these major topics, the commission discussed its contribution to two important events for the Congregation: the Dehonian Jubilee, which is about to enter its second phase, and the beatification of Father Martino Capelli, SCJ. On the occasion of these events, the CTID will publish reflections focused on the theme of mission and martyrdom as privileged expressions of the Dehonian charism.
