Jubilee of Hope celebrated in India by the religious, with a gathering of widows.

In August 2025, Rev. Fr. S. Balaraj Sambathi SCJ, President of the Conference of Religious in India (CRI), together with the religious of Ookal in the Diocese of Warangal, India, carried out a social action initiative to mark the Jubilee Year. This event reflected the spirit of a single family—especially in solidarity with those who suffer.

The Diocese of Warangal, which is divided into six zonal areas, has taken a meaningful initiative to celebrate the Jubilee Year in each zone. This Jubilee is not merely an event but a sacred time of gathering as one family with diverse groups of people—widows, orphans, those affected by HIV, and persons living with physical or mental disabilities. It is a true expression of the Church’s compassion and solidarity.

As part of this journey, the Ookal Zonal recently organized a Jubilee Day with the widows of their community on August 27, 2025. All the widows of the zone were invited, and it was deeply moving to see 110 of them come together for prayer, fellowship, and celebration.

On this occasion, the Diocesan Administrator, along with Rev. Fr. S. Balaraj SCJ, CRI President, were present to encourage and uplift the widows. They reminded them that, despite life’s trials and struggles, it is vital never to lose hope in God, who “is close to the brokenhearted” (Psalm 34:18). Their words brought strength and consolation to many participants.

The presence of the Dehonians at this event highlighted their social commitment to those who suffer. This Jubilee gathering was not only a celebration but also a concrete moment of healing, renewal, and empowerment—showing that the Church truly walks with her children, especially the most vulnerable.
