“Dear brothers and sisters, it is with deep sadness that I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. This morning, at 7:35, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the Father’s house”, declared the Camerlingue, Cardinal Farell, on the morning of April 21, 2025.
The whole world will remember this memorable date when the first non-European pope was recalled to God. On this sad occasion, Dehonians the world over will remember the warm welcome extended to them by the Holy Father on June 27, 2024, when they held their General Chapter in Rome. He invited the Dehonians to always live in love:
‘Here is the secret of a credible proclamation, of an effective proclamation: to let the word ‘love’ be inscribed, like Jesus, in our flesh, that is to say in the concreteness of our actions, with tenacity, without stopping in the face of the judgments that fly, the problems that cause anguish and the malice that hurts, without growing weary, with an inexhaustible affection for every brother and every sister…’.
