A total of 150 scouts from five Dehonian schools participated in the inaugural Dehonian Scout Camp 2024.
METRO, LAMPUNG – A total of 150 scouts from five Dehonian schools under the Yayasan Pendidikan Katolik Leo Dehon or YPK Leo Dehon (Leo Dehon Catholic Education Foundation Leo Dehon) participated in the inaugural Dehonian Scout Camp 2024. The event, held from November 8–10, 2024, at the Yos Sudarso Metro school complex in Lampung, aimed to foster togetherness among Dehonian schools across Jakarta and Lampung.
“This activity is expected to be a platform for all of us to realize unity among Dehonian schools,” said Br. Petrus Tri Antara, SCJ, Head of YPK Leo Dehon.
The five participating schools included St. Antonius Elementary, Junior High, and Senior High Schools from East Jakarta, along with Yos Sudarso Junior and Senior High Schools from Metro, Lampung.
It is worth noting that the YPK Leo Dehon is an educational foundation managed by the SCJ Indonesia Province. The foundation currently oversees the operation of these five schools.
With the theme “One Heart, One Dehonian Scout,” the camp encouraged participants to embody and practice the value of love—one of the four core principles of Dehonian schools. These values, known collectively as LoCoReSa, include Love, Compassion, Readiness, and Sacrifice.
Over three days, campers engaged in practical activities to instill the spirit of love for nature and others. These included creating compost from organic waste, cleaning nearby houses, places of worship (church and mosque), and the local administrative office, as well as assisting vendors in Metro City Market.
To develop entrepreneurial skills, participants prepared and sold homemade snacks to the community. The camp also emphasized self-reliance, as scouts were required to cook and prepare their own meals throughout the event.
Despite the hot weather, participants remained enthusiastic and actively engaged until the end.
During the closing ceremony, Br. Petrus Tri Antara, SCJ, affirmed that this collective activity would continue in the future. “For the next Dehonian Scout Camp, the Dehonian schools in Jakarta will take the lead in organizing,” he announced.
