P. Ofenloch died this morning at 3 a.m. at the age of 79 in the hospital in Aliwal North, South Africa.
He was born on Nov. 12, 1942, in Lambrecht, a neighboring town of Neustadt an der Weinstraße. In November 1994, the fusion of the Regio De Aar, which until then had been subordinate to the U.S. Province, and the Regio Aliwal resulted in the independent Province of South Africa, of which Fr. Ofenloch became an official member.
From 1989 to 2007 he served as parish priest at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Aliwal, where he also helped out from time to time.
The funeral service for Fr. Ofenloch is scheduled for Saturday next week on April 2, 2022 at the cathedral in Aliwal
