The celebration of the Dehonian Memory, on November 26, invites us to contemplate the mystery of the Heart of Jesus and to renew each one’s “yes” to the mission.
In this Dehonian jubilee year, we remember our Founder, Fr. Leo Dehon, and we want to renew our missionary vocation. When Fr. Dehon exhorted us to go and fish in the deep sea, he was not only talking about apostolic action but also about an attitude of the heart: leaving our comfort zone, trusting in Providence, offering our lives in reparation and service. The celebration of Dehonian Memorial Day invites us to contemplate the mystery of the Heart of Jesus and to renew each one’s yes to the mission. The miraculous catch expresses the Christian paradox: fruitfulness comes from trusting risk. Going out to sea means leaving behind security, accepting vulnerability, and trusting in the One who provides. May this Dehonian Memorial Day, therefore, be an act of gratitude and commitment. Let us remember not only the story, but also the spirituality that made it possible: Adoration, Oblation, and Reparation.
The document below is a liturgical guide for the celebration of the Dehonian Memorial on November 26, 2025. The theme is: “How beautiful are the feet of the messenger who announces peace!” It commemorates the first Dehonian Mission in Ecuador and looks toward new missionary efforts, specifically Cuba.
