On this day, 67 years ago, the Dehonian mission began in Venezuela. That’s right brothers, on August 17, 1953, we Dehonians arrived in this beautiful country. Some missionaries came from the Spanish Province, among them was Father Manuel Mira, who ventured into the mission in an unknown country but welcomed them to this day as his sons. They have been at years of work, effort, prayer, dedication, and service for the Kingdom. These lands and their people have given shelter to the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and today we thank God for the infinite blessings He has giving us during all this time, we only ask him: “Lord will do all things for me. Lord, your faithful love endures forever, do not abandon what you have made (Psalm 137: 8).

The following video is an initiative to bring together a group of Venezuelan Dehonians: laity and religious, who wanted to celebrate this anniversary and continue to bring community since many are outside of Venezuela due to the current situation of the country.

“A Dehonian is …” is an expression of gratitude for the Dehonian spirituality and experience lived over many years, it is a sign of gratitude for the spiritual formation and in values that today transcends the various vocations to which we were called.
