The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing (Ps 23:1)

Filled with deep emotion, we bid farewell to the late Fr. Franciszek Leżański. Together we want to pray for him, but above all to offer God a sacrifice of praise, thanksgiving for his life. Although for a few years the health of Fr. Francis has been a source of much concern, his sudden departure from this world on October 15, 2020 was a real surprise for many of us.
Fr. Franciszek was born in Kasinka Mala on 28.10.1940 as the third of four siblings. He made his first religious vows in the Congregation of Heart Priests on October 20, 1958 in Mszana Dolna, and was ordained a priest on June 18, 1967 in Stadniki. In 1970 he went on missions to Congo, where he worked until 1986. After his return to Poland he was a pastor in the parishes of Binczarowa and Bełchatów and a member of the Serbian group preaching retreats.
During the funeral homily his confrerere from the year of ordination recalled:
“You did not like to be taken care of. With a strong voice, you gave the impression of being inaccessible, always wanting to dominate, and sometimes even unpleasant for others, often rough. But these were usually appearances under which you hid your heart full of forbearance, kindness and goodness.
May God accept the prayers for the peace of his soul and the expressions of gratitude for all the goodness that Fr. Francis has brought to us, to the Congregation and to the whole Church. Living in peace, Dear Francis, may God’s heart be your reward!
