In the year in which the Dehonians celebrate the 75th anniversary of their arrival in Mozambique, the MOZ Province was blessed with the gift of three new priests.
On October 16, 2022, in Alto Molocue (the place of the first arrival and Dehonian mission) the following confreres were ordained: FRACANSA SONIVA, HERCULANO BERNARDO ANTÓNIO, JOSÉ MANUEL SÓCRATES ALFERES. The bishop who presided over the celebration was Bishop Ignacio Lucas, Bishop of Gurue, who laid hands on and ordained the three Dehonians.
The celebration was attended by many faithful from the parishes of origin and Molocue, by relatives of the ordinands, and by confreres from the communities of Mozambique, diocesan and religious priests, and sisters from different congregations.
The festive atmosphere was characterized by songs and dances that enlivened the celebration and made it a true feast of faith and gratitude to God for the gift He has given to the three young men, to the congregation, and to the Church.
The Bishop recalled the need for the new priests to be men of prayer: to pray for the people of God and for all of humanity; to be people dedicated to evangelization, to have love for the Word of God in order to proclaim it with passion and fidelity; to be shepherds full of love for the sick, the youth and the poor, for the weakest in the community.
The MOZ Province is happy to receive this gift of life from the new priests and thanked the Heart of Jesus for this special blessing in the year of the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the first confreres and the Dehonian charism in this land.
May the Lord bless these new priests, make them pastors according to His Heart, living images of love and mercy, builders of communion.
