Presentation of the Logo for the September 27 Beatifications
On September 27, 2026, the beatification of three martyr priests of Monte Sole will take place in Bologna, Italy: Don Ubaldo Marchioni, Don Elia Comini (SDB), and Father Martino Capelli (SCJ). Below is a presentation of the logo designed by Father José Ronaldo Castro Gouvêa, SCJ.
On the occasion of the beatification of the three martyr priests of the Second World War at Monte Sole, in the Diocese of Bologna, we present the official logo proposed by Father José Ronaldo Castro Gouvêa, SCJ, and approved by the preparatory commission for the Beatification of these priests from the Diocese of Bologna, the Salesian Congregation, and the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart.

A circle formed by the palm of martyrdom, a sign of victory, and the words of the Gospel according to John regarding the Passion of the Lord frame several symbols evoking the martyrdom of Don Ubaldo Marchioni, Don Elia Comini (SDB), and Father Martino Capelli (SCJ).
- The Priestly Stole:At the center of the logo is a red stole, recalling the color of the martyrs who shed their blood for Christ. Furthermore, this stole forms the letter M, in explicit reference to the devotion these three priests held for Mary.
- The Three Drops:Three drops of shed blood bear witness to their martyrdom, following in the footsteps of the sacrificed Lamb.
- The Pierced Ciborium:At the heart of the image, the ciborium pierced by a bullet stands out—a witness to the martyrdom of Don Ubaldo Marchioni. While he held it in his hands, his blood gushed forth, uniting with that of the Savior who, by shedding His own, gave His life on the Cross for our redemption.
They were three faithful servants whose sacrifice did not remain isolated. The martyrdom of the three priests is united with the martyrdom of Christ: just as the Good Shepherd was pierced for His flock, they offered their lives, transforming their own blood into an extension of that unique sacrifice which saves the world: from His Heart, “at once there came out blood and water.”
