On the day when the whole Congregation celebrated its 140th anniversary, in the Province of Brazil-Recife another moment of joy and celebration was added to the already happy moment: a new Dehonian deacon was ordained by Bishop André Vital Félix da Silva, SCJ, the bishop of Limoeiro do Norte.
On June 28, our confrere Vando Marques Gomes received diaconal orders in the parish church of Santa Chiara, in Jardim Paulista Baixo.
This was a moment of joy not only for the Province of North Brazil, but for the whole Church, which is witness to the salvific plan and proclamation of the word of God though the commitment taken by the new Dehonian deacon. With his “yes” he makes himself available to the People of God by responding to the call of Jesus.
The reference to the Gospel of John (3:30): “He must become greater; I must become less”, marked the ordination ceremony, and the whole journey of the vocation of Valdo Marques Gomes, who was able to express his joy for this event surrounded by relatives, friends and confreres. He was also accompanied by the faithful of the parish of Santa Clara and other parishes of the area. They expressed thanks with their presence, not only to Valdo for his willingness to serve, but above all to God. We pray that his ministry may always be illuminated by grace and made fruitful!
