The past month was one of intense spiritual and community life for the Dehonians in Mozambique. The province was marked by a series of significant events, including retreats, assemblies, entrances into the novitiate, renewals of vows, and first religious professions.
Provincial Retreat and Assembly
The series of significant events which marked the month of January in Mozambique began with a spiritual retreat led by Father Sócrates. He reflected on the theme: “For Him I live: Christ dwells in me and transforms my inner life”. This retreat offered participants a profound time of prayer and faith-deepening, preparing them for the commitments and vows that followed later in the month.
Following the retreat, from January 12 to 14, the Provincial Assembly was held. The main agenda focused on reflecting upon the organizational structure of the Province. Over these three days, the religious shared their experiences and discussed strategic ways to strengthen both their mission and community life.
Religious Vows and New Steps
On January 24, four postulants — Alexandre, Faruque, Isac, and Paulo — took a decisive step in their vocational journey by entering the novitiate. During this same period, Brother Roque renewed his vows for the sixth time, offering a powerful witness of fidelity and perseverance in religious life.
The month culminated in a special celebration on the following Sunday at 8:00 a.m. at São Carlos Lwanga Parish, in the Diocese of Gurué. Six novices professed their first religious vows during a rite presided over by Father Carlitos, with the Eucharistic celebration led by Father Ciscato.
These spiritual and communal milestones have profoundly impacted the Dehonian Province in Mozambique. January 2026 will be remembered as a season of renewal, commitment, and hope for the Dehonian mission in the country.
