Dehonian Theological Commission of Latin America's meeting (CTDAL) in the city of Quito
The members of the Dehonian Theological Commission of Latin America (CTDAL) held their meeting in the city of Quito, in the House of the ECU District, from May 7 to 10. We chose this place especially because the ECU District is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Fathers Manuel Teixeira (VEN), Marcelo Batalioto (BSP) and Marcelo Reynoso (ARG) participated in the meeting in person. And remotely joined the Fathers Victor Oliveira (collaborating member in Rome), Darlan Marasca (BRM), Rodrigo Arruda (BRE) and Délio Ruiz (Colombia).
The purpose of the meeting was to prepare for the Dehonian Theological Seminar in 2023. The theme of the seminar: “An economy for all. Inclusive, sustainable and just”. Being an interdisciplinary theme, we could count on experts who guided our walk: Fr. Elio Gasda sj, Fr. Mário Marcelo scj, Luis Morales (doctor in economics) and Fr. Alfonso Canedo. Thanks to the personal work of each one of the members and the contribution of experts, we were able to carry out the work in stages, the last stage will be in December 2022.
The months of February and March 2023 will serve to bring together all the contributions. We ended the afternoon of Tuesday, May 10 with the evaluation of our meeting, which was positive since we were able to meet our work objectives. We would like to highlight, however, the limitations of the hybrid modality, insisting on the importance and necessity of meeting in person, since it achieves greater group cohesion and fosters a suitable atmosphere for reflection, and that all the spaces are moments of dialogue on the topic studied. In this way we concluded our days, with a specific work plan, with days of meetings scheduled and with the desire to work for the Congregation. We are grateful to the District of Ecuador, who welcomed us with care and made us feel at all times as brothers.
